DELTONA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver going the wrong way was involved in a fatal collision in Volusia County early Friday morning.
According to WKMG, a 22-year-old Deltona woman was driving in the wrong direction in the center lane of Interstate 4 at about 12:30 a.m. She struck the front of another car head-on, causing the second vehicle to go off the road and hit a guardrail at mile marker 110.
The driver of the second car, a 26-year-old man from Brazil, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Brazil, was seriously injured.
The wrong-way driver and her passenger were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The FHP is continuing its investigation into the accident.
