Wrong-way collision in Orange County leaves 1 driver dead, 1 injured

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – One driver was killed and another injured in a wrong-way accident in Orange County Wednesday, authorities said.

According to WESH, the Florida Highway Patrol said a 75-year-old man was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound in a northbound lane on Goldenrod Road at Sun Vista Way.

His vehicle crashed head-on into a northbound Toyota Highlander driven by a 35-year-old man. The Tacoma driver was taken to AdventHealth East Orlando, where he was pronounced dead. The Highlander driver was hospitalized at Orlando Regional Medical Center with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

The FHP is investigating the cause of the collision, which shut down the northbound lanes of Goldenrod Road.
