Woman trying to cross U.S. Highway 192 near St. Cloud struck, killed by car

ST. CLOUD, FL – Law enforcement authorities were at the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident in Osceola County last week, according to the Osceola News-Gazette.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 54-year-old woman was trying to walk across U.S. Highway 192 west of St. Cloud Thursday morning at about 9 a.m.  She entered the path of a Kia Cadenza driven by a 31-year-old Kissimmee woman, and was struck by the vehicle in the outside lane.

The pedestrian, a Kissimmee resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The FHP said the victim was not within a crosswalk at the time she was hit.

The driver notified authorities about the incident and cooperated with investigators at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of U.S. 192 were closed from Simmons Road to Sgt. Boyd Graham Boulevard for the crash investigation.
