ORLANDO, FL – A woman died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on a roadway in Orlando last week, WOFL reported.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Virginia Celli-Olivo was outside of her car on Curry Ford Road trying to rescue a turtle in the road. As she coming from behind the car to get back into her vehicle, a box truck struck and killed Celli-Olivo.
The FHP said the driver of the truck left the scene but was followed by a witness who called 911. State troopers identified the driver as 30-year-old Miguel Valero Gonzalez and took him into custody.
Gonzalez was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with a death, and was lodged in the Orange County Jail.
