Pickup truck accident in Lake County leaves 21-year-old driver dead

EUSTIS, FL – A driver was killed in a pickup truck accident in Lake County on Tuesday morning, WFTV reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene in the area of State Road 44 and Bottany Woods Drive after the incident occurred at about 8:34 a.m.

State troopers said the driver of a 2003 Ford Ranger veered off the road while going west on S.R. 44.  When the driver overcorrected, the vehicle entered the eastbound lanes and collided with a 2021 Ford Ranger hauling a trailer, causing the truck and trailer to flip onto their roofs.

The driver of the 2003 Ranger, a 21-year-old woman from Leesburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity was not immediately released.  The driver of the 2021 Ranger was not injured.

Troopers blocked off S.R. 44 for several hours for the crash investigation.
