Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle on State Road 528 in Cocoa

COCOA, FL – Police in Cocoa said a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle last week.

In a post on their Facebook page, the police department said they responded to the incident Monday night on State Road 528 just east of the exit for U.S. 1.

The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle involved was cooperating with the investigation.

The westbound lanes of State Road 528 were temporarily closed between Cocoa and Merritt Island while police were investigating. Traffic was rerouted at Courtenay Parkway on the Merritt Island side.  The roadway was reopened by Tuesday morning.
