POLK COUNTY, FL – Authorities say a man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Polk County last week.
According to WKMG, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 46-year-old Edy Juarez Granados was driving a pickup truck north on US-17 Wednesday at about 6:11 p.m. when he entered the southbound lanes near County Road 640.
The pickup crashed into a 2006 Infiniti, which then collided with two other vehicles, including a dump truck.
The Infiniti driver, 21-year-old Tyler Baysden, suffered fatal injuries while his passenger was hospitalized. Minor injuries were reported among the occupants of the two other vehicles.
According to the sheriff’s office, Juarez Granados left the scene of the crash. He was apprehended the following evening and admitted his involvement in the wreck, officials said. He now faces several charges, including leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a valid license.
