Fatal multi-vehicle accident shuts down lanes on Interstate 4

DELTONA, FL – A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 4 in Volusia County early Tuesday morning left a motorcyclist dead and disrupted traffic for hours, according to WKMG.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 22-year-old man was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound in the center lane near Saxon Boulevard at about 3:15 a.m. when he failed to slow down. The motorcycle struck a boat trailer being pulled by a Ram 1500 pickup truck. The motorcycle was then hit by a semitrailer and a Hyundai Elantra.

The motorcycle rider, a Sebring resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The FHP said all drivers who were involved stayed at the scene.  The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of I-4 for over five hours while state troopers investigated.
