Car hits 2 ATVs on State Road 417 in Orange County, killing woman

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – An SUV was involved in a fatal collision with two ATVs on State Road 417 in Orange County Saturday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to WKMG, a 35-year-old Orlando man was driving a Nissan Rogue near the Curry Ford Road exit shortly after 1 a.m. when he rear-ended the ATVs that were in the outside lane near mile marker 31, causing two riders to be ejected.

One ATV rider, a 23-year-old woman whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another rider, a 21-year-old man from Orlando, was critically injured. Witnesses said a third person riding on one of the ATVs ran from the scene. The Nissan driver was not injured.

The FHP is investigating the crash, which shut down the northbound lanes of State Road 417.
