KISSIMMEE, FL – Two people were killed and five others injured when their sport utility vehicle crashed in Osceola County Sunday night, authorities said.
The Osceola News-Gazette reports the incident occurred on Seralago Boulevard near Osceola Parkway shortly before 10 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Equinox north on Seralago Boulevard when the vehicle went through the grass median, across the southbound lanes and left the road, slamming into a tree. Two passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were ejected from the SUV and were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither victim was wearing a seat belt. Both were from Orlando.
The driver and four other passengers were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. The FHP, which is investigating the crash, said there were seven people in the vehicle that was designed with seats for five.
