1 dead, 1 injured after multi-vehicle crash on State Road 44 in Eustis

EUSTIS, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was at the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle accident in Eustis Tuesday, according to WFTV.

Three cars were involved in the accident in the area of State Road 44 and Donna Vista Place at about 6:30 p.m. Investigators said a 22-year-old Sanford man was driving a Nissan Altima on State Road 44 west when he crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lanes.

The Nissan sideswiped a Honda Accord, then crashed into an eastbound pickup truck head-on. The driver of the Nissan, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 56-year-old Eustis man who was driving the pickup was seriously injured and taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital.

The driver of Honda and a passenger were not injured.

State Road 44 was closed in both directions for the crash investigation.
